Jane Austen is still widely read over 200 years after her death! She wrote with spirit and fervor. There is some humor in her writing as well. She wrote about what she knew. Her father had a vast library and so Jane read starting very young. She had a sister Cassandra who she was close to and who cared for her when she was ill and towards the end of her life. Jane fits well into several of the periods of English history included the Regency, Edwardian and Georgian. She wrote about ‘classism’ during that time in England. She is so much fun to study and learn about. Most especially, to use as themes in junk journals.
